Ron Mello’s work ranges from functional pieces made with stoneware and porcelain to sculptural pieces based on the vessel form. The functional pieces are fired in gas or electric kilns. The sculptural pieces are burnished before being bisque fired and then fired in atmospheric conditions including saggars, naked raku, and raku.

Other creative work includes brush making, painting, printmaking, and sculpture. Mello is interested in mixing media, including pottery, painting, glass, and computer imaging.
