PRIMARY WORK EXPERIENCE

—Ed and Kate Coleman Pottery Studio, Asheville, North Carolina

Ed and Kate Coleman are known for using a white clay body for their vibrantly colored and textured hand built functional ceramics. The Coleman’s have created many series using traditional forms including mugs and vases, experimental bowl forms and textured clocks. All the surfaces are divided into different areas of either textured patterning or a smooth surface with vibrant colored stain glazes. The work is finished with inlaid stains of black or copper shades which contrasts with the clay body and vibrant glazes.
