Noel Bailey is known for functional porcelain ware that is high-fired in a reduced oxygen atmosphere.

His foundation in clay is rooted in his Laloba Ranch Art Center residency and the impact of his apprenticeship with potter Bill Wilson. Other influences are water, and nature and its rhythms.

As of February 2017 the typical known mark is first name, "Noel", thickly incised into foot of pot. The “o” may be filled in with a contrasting color.
