BIOGRAPHY
Paula Shalan is known for non-functional low-fired white earthenware pottery vessels. Surface treatment includes stamping, printing, and then painting white terra sigilatta and/or slips, wiping a layer off, and hand burnishing. The final smoky appearance is achieved through pit-firing.
