Bonnie Seeman is known for intricate thrown and hand built enriched pieces that feature elaborate glazes.
Seeman grew up in Miami, Florida where she first saw the dazzling colors that appear in her work. The imagery she uses is based on two distinctly different sources. First, the tropical landscape with bright colors and large leaf forms, and second her interest in anatomy. She combines these to create pieces that are both beautiful and thought provoking. Each piece is based on a thrown porcelain functional vessel form. Vertical forms, vases, pitchers, and the like are typically opened along the side to create an inner space. The inner and outer spaces present either a tropical theme or one based on human anatomy, with the placement interchangeable.
