BIOGRAPHY
Matt Krousey is known for wheel thrown, functional stoneware or porcelain pots, tiles, and tile murals which are fired in gas or wood in a soda/salt reduction atmosphere. Surface materials often include a wax-resist used to render subjects found in nature such as cranes, willow, reeds. etc., and stains, slips, and glazes.
Krousey’s inspirations include the local landscape, natural habitats, and the simplicity of the folk pots of Japan and Korea. He worked with the Veterans for The Arts helping veterans understand the healing powers of clay from one of their own.
