Sandy Batton and his wife, Margaret Ann Batton, are known for decorated functional wares produced in a wide range of glaze colors. The majority of their work is slab built; the remainder is wheel-thrown and frequently altered. The slab built work is characterized by dramatic bends, curves, and feet. The Batton Clayworks offers a made-to-order option including using a number of surface techniques including wax resist, carving, and incising. Pieces are high fired in an electric kiln. The Battons founded Batton Clayworks in 2003.
